Nebraska City picked up a singles victory and three doubles wins to claim Thursday’s home dual over Elkhorn Mount Michael.
Nebraska City’s Justin McCord won an 8-1 singles decision.
Mark Little fell in another singles match, 8-4.
Doubles wins were by Andrew Finkner and Jacob Martens, 8-0; Seth Anderson and Martens, 8-3; and Jake Stehlik and Finkner, 8-5.
McCord and Little fell in a closely contested dual, 9-7, and Nick Andersen and Jake Tierra fell in an 8-4 doubles match.
Coach Dan Holmberg said Nebraska City’s performance Thursday was a solid one.
“This was the first match ever for many of these kids and I was impressed at how well the freshmen played in winning all their matches, Holmberg said.
Speaking of doubles play, Coach Holmberg said the Pioneers are still experimenting to find the right combinations.
Nebraska City will return to action at 9 a.m. Saturday to host Waverly, Omaha Skutt and Omaha Gross in tournament action at Steinhart Park.
