The 2010-11 season will begin a new era for football players at Hamburg and Farragut with the two schools agreeing to share a program.

Luke Stockstell, who led the Hamburg team last year, said he believes the future in bright for the combined squad.

“Both schools have a pretty good pool of athletes coming back,” Stockstell said.

Team cohesiveness shouldn’t be a problem for the group either. With the schools sharing track this spring and baseball this fall, Stockstell said the athletes will have a chance to get to know one another.

Stockstell, who has applied for the shared head coaching job, said the total number of athletes out for football this year between the two schools should be somewhere between 30 and 35.

As for the schedule that Hamburg-Farragut will have, Stockstell said a number of teams should have solid squads.

Stockstell said Fremont-Mills, which returns to the ranks of eight man, should have a good team.

Other teams to watch for include East Mills, Stanton and Sidney.

“Looking around the conference, I think there will be a lot of tough teams to battle with,” Stockstell said.
