Lourdes opens the 2018 season on the road Friday (Aug. 24) against Falls City Sacred Heart.

The 2018 Lourdes Central Catholic football team will feature plenty of experience at the skilled positions and a young line that’s showing promise.
Last season, the Knights were undefeated in district play and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.
In the first round of the 2017 state playoffs, the Knights downed Neligh-Oakdale 48-20.
In the second round, Lourdes ended the season with a loss to Howells-Dodge.
With an offensive line that consist of sophomores and juniors, Coach Clay Carlton will look for guys to take on leadership roles.
“We are looking for our juniors and sophomores to be our vocal leaders,” Carlton said.  “We will look for them to be more physical.”
The Knights have five seniors that play the skilled positions and bring a lot of talent.  “They are talented and have worked hard for us, and we are excited to see what these guys can do in the open field,” Carlton said.
Colter Fulton has plenty of experience after starting on one side of the ball as a freshman.  Andrew Aldana will be in his second year and played solid defense for the Knights last season.  Thomas Carpenter played multiple positions last season and Cristian Watkins and Johnny Heng will fill out the rest of the skilled positions.
The Knights will have plenty of depth with 36 players on the roster.
“As the season goes on, we should be able to run two practices at time,” Carlton said.  “We are excited at the depth that we have and with the young kids to fill in on special teams and be big contributors, not only to give our guys breaks, but to help with their own development.”
