The Nebraska City seniors are preparing for districts next week as they hosted Norfolk in a doubleheader where Jace Becker homered. In the first game NC lost 8-3, but rebounded in the second game with a 9-4 win on Thursday, July 12, at Nebraska City.
Bryce Levy earned the win for Nebraska City during the second game of the doubleheader. Levy threw six innings and allowed three runs, on seven hits, while striking out three.
Norfolk took a 2-0 lead through three innings. In the fourth, NC managed to get the bases loaded and due to a couple of walks, NC tied the game at 2-2. Braydon Betts came up to bat and hit a single that scored Becker. Alex Breazile scored on a wild pitch and Tyler Levy drove in two runs on a single up the middle, and NC led 6-2.
Zac Albrecht stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fifth and hit a RBI single to right field that scored Garrett Bassinger.
In the bottom of the sixth, Breazile scored Clay Stovall on a sacrifice. Nebraska City added to it’s 8-2 lead when Bryce Levy drove in Becker on a single to center field. Norfolk tacked on two runs in it’s last at bat, but NC went on to win 9-4.

Jace Becker hit a solo HR, but a three run fifth inning by Norfolk was enough to pull away from the Post 8 seniors.
Nebraska City was down 3-0 when Becker drilled a solo HR to deep center field to get NC within two runs.
The Post 8 seniors tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a bases loaded walk and a ground out that scored a run, but NC couldn’t hold on to the lead and went on to lose 8-3.

RBI: Becker and Bryce Levy, one each.

Bassinger picked up the loss. Bassinger allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out six in five innings. Ethan Seyler pitched two innings and allowed four hits, one run, and struck out one.
Nebraska City is now 14-11 on the season.
