The Post 8 Legion Seniors were not shy at the plate, as they rattled off 10 runs on 13 hits against Parkland View Christian in a 10-2 route on Thursday, May 31, at Nebraska City.

With Nebraska City down 2-0 through two and a half innings, the Seniors bats came alive in the bottom half of the third.  Clay Stovall lead off with a double to start the big nine run inning.  Dylan Knoell stepped up and smacked a triple.   Max Chaney and Bryce Levy came around to score on an Eli Southard single to left field.  Stovall came up again in the same inning and hit an infield single and later scored on a base hit by Breazile.

The score was 9-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth and with the bases loaded and two outs, Jace Becker hit a ground ball to shortstop and beat out the throw at first, as Knoell scored from third to put the game away.

Coach James Widoe thought it was huge for their team not just to win, but to score double digit runs and to have that big third inning. “Once we get it going, it will be contagious and it was that inning,” Widoe said.

Nebraska City picked up it’s first win on the season after starting 0-5 and Coach Widoe said that teams he has coached in the past have gone through spats, but not at the start of the season and this year just happened to be at the beginning.

Coach Widoe said his team showed up early to get some hitting in which helped with their 13 hit night.
“We got a lot of really good cuts in, we got a lot of really good work in, but I liked the approach tonight better than I have in the past,” said Widoe.
