Gretchen Sornson set a school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.18 as the Pioneer track team competed at the Crete Invitational on Thursday, April, 26.
Nebraska City track were already on their way to Crete before the Nebraska City Public Schools were on lock down due to threats.
Coach Kaleb Walker said it was rough, but Sornson’s performance was definitely a highlight on such a crazy day.
Taylor Moyer had a 5th place finish in the 100 meter dash with a run of 13.35.
Alexis Hoover placed 5th in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. In the 200m, Hoover finished with a time of 28.04; 400m, 1:05.68.
In the 800 meter run, Chloe Schaulis placed 6th and a finish of 2:45.47
The girls earned points in the 4x100 meter relay by placing 5th with a time of 53.34. Runners; Abby Balfour, Gretchen Sornson, Taylor Moyer, and Alexis Hoover.
MacKenzie Anthens came away with a 2nd place finish in the shot put event with a throw of 37-04.
During the discus event, Madi Mitchell had a final throw of 104-01, which was good enough for a 5th place finish.
Nebraska City will compete in the EMC meet on Tuesday, May, 1 at Elkhorn starting at 1:30 pm.
