On Saturday, the Pioneers volleyball team competed in the Eastern Midlands Conference tournament at Bennington High School on Oct. 7.
Nebraska City lost to Bennington in two sets 25-12 and 25-7.
Nebraska City moved on to play Plattsmouth took the Blue Devils to three sets before falling  25-23, 21-25, 25-16.
In its first contest with Plattsmouth back in September Nebraska City lost two straight sets Coach Jordan Broady said it was nice to win a set this match.
“We didn’t play well against them at all the first round but things are finally starting to click and we gave them a better game,”  Broady said.
Nebraska City picked up its third win of the season by taking down the Blair Bears, 29-27, 23-25 and 25-18.
“The girls played extremely well.”  Coach Broady said.  “Individually, each player was doing her job which transferred to the team as a whole working well together.”
Coach Broady is impressed with the direction her team is showing.
“I was so proud of how the girls played the entire day.  We’re making steps to our future goals.”  Coach Broady said.

Bennington match
Nebraska City traveled to Bennington for a single match on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and lost 3-0. In the first set, Nebraska City lost 25-7. the Pioneers lost the second set 25-7 and dropped the third set 25-8.
