Bad weather, postponements, and different locations. That’s how Nebraska City ended its softball season at districts as they lost to Omaha Gross 5-1 on Monday.
The tournament was supposed to start Thursday, got moved to Friday and then was moved to Monday going went from double elimination to single elimination.
Districts were to be played in Ralston then relocated to Blair due to bad weather.
On short notice, Nebraska City faced off with Omaha Gross Friday and Gross took and early 3-0 lead.
In the fifth inning the game was called because of rain and the game got pushed to Monday.
In the top of the fifth inning, Nebraska City’s Cara Booth reached first on a bunt single as MacKenzie Anthens ripped a double to left field scoreing Booth as Omaha led 3-1.
Gross Catholic scored  two more runs in the bottom half of the fifth and Nebraska City lost 5-1.
MacKenzie Anthens had two hits for the Pioneers.  Booth, Patricia Trice, and Sydney Schmitz each had one hit. Schmitz pitched six innings, gave up four hits, five runs, and had three strikeouts.
Nebraska City finished its season with five wins.
