The Nebraska City Cross Country fought through bad weather in the Eastern Midlands Conference meet at the Pioneer Golf Course in Lincoln.
James Kearney led the boys’ varsity with a 19:23 for 39th place. Other times were Jesse Rodriguez, 20:23; Jack Vlahos, 21:17; Mason Hamilton, 22:23; Christian Tietz, 22:42; and Josh Stidd, 22:53.
Boys JV results saw Dylan Holman run 23:34. Other times were Jesus Flores, 25:05; and Colton Clark,  24:35.
“This was our toughest meet of the year.”  Coach Ron Schaulis said.
Chloe Schaulis finished 25th with a time of 22:31 to lead the Pioneer girls’ team. Other times were Brianna Fulton, 24:15; Abbie Heiser, 23:46; Kaycee Driever, 24:48; Amanda Anderson, 24:59; and Ellie Higgins 27:45.
Girls JV results saw Lilly Frields run 25:36. Other times were Bethany Ramage, 27:16; Karlie Olsen, 27:20; Katherine Luther, 28:23; Aubrey Thurman, 29:28; Erica Ramage, 27:16; Aspen Thurman, 30:54; Makensi Blum, 31:08; and Mya Bartman, 33:31.
Coach Schaulis said bad weather put the Pioneer team at a disadvantage with only having a day to recovery from Monday’s meet as this event was moved from Thursday to Wednesday.
Nebraska City was scheduled to compete at districts at Omaha Skutt High School on Thursday.
