Lourdes Central Catholic had a happy senior night as the Knights swept a triangular against Lewiston and Pawnee City to get win number 10 for the season.
Lourdes beat Lewiston in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-17. In their second match up, the Knights faced Pawnee City and won a hard fought contest 25-20, 25-22.
Coach Michelle Kreifels said she was proud of the girls on senior night and expressed how importance of the evening.
“It’s really an emotional night whenever we have senior night.”  Coach Kreifels said.  
Kreifels said Josephine Wigington, a senior, is injured which is unfortunate because she has really helped the team grow this season with her talents.
Like Wigington, Kaseandra Martinez, a senior, hasn’t played due to medical issues, but Kreifels said it was important that these two student-athletes were honored on senior night.
“It’s just really important for those two and the rest of the seniors to come together for those girls and have a good celebration for them tonight.”  Kreifels said.
Lewiston and Pawnee City had trouble with the height of the Knights at the net.
Blocking was a factor with both wins.
Kreifels noted that her team has really been working on blocking in practice and making sure the girls are more coordinated with their foot work.
“Once we get our foot work down it’s going to be a lot easier for them.”  Coach Kreifels said.
In the second set against Pawnee City,  the visitors scored eight straight to cut the Knight lead to 22-20, but Lourdes held them off.
Kreifels said that errors were the reason the game was closer than it should have been.
