NOTE: This article was included in the Friday News-Press. The Pioneers were scheduled to compete at Wahoo on Saturday but the meet was called off due to weather.

A total of eight Nebraska City wrestlers were in action for the Council Bluffs Classic last Friday and Saturday at the MidAmerica Center.
The top finisher for the Nebraska City team was Rhett Trail, who took fifth place. Andrew Harrah and Dalton Williams were listed as medical forfeits for second day matches at the event.
Harrah and Williams are both fine health wise but were missed second day wrestling due to ACT test commitments.
That’s not to say there aren’t injury concerns on the Pioneer roster.
Coach Tyler Hodges said Blake Shallenberger, 160 pounds, broke his hand opening match of the event and  Jordan Williams, 126 pounds, is fighting a rib injury sustained in practice.
Coach Hodges said he expects the injury news will improve. “We will slowly be getting back to full health,” said Hodges. “I expect to be up to about 10-12 weights for this Saturday and then be full strength after the break.”
The Pioneers will be in action on Saturday for the Wahoo Invite.
