The parents of the Lourdes Central Catholic girls and boys basketball teams had a lot to be proud of Tuesday night.
Before the varsity games began, the teams hosted Parents Night.
The girls team then beat Pawnee City 42-39, followed by the boys’ team win of 56-27 over the Indians.
The girls team trailed Pawnee City by a point at the end of the first quarter, but went up by 10 at the half.
The game was close at the end of the third quarter, but the Knights held on to win by three.
Macey Allgood was the Knights’ leading scorer with 13 points, followed by Laura Box and Libby Fulton, who each contributed 12 points.
The win puts the Knights at the top of the D1 District 1 standings with a 2-0 district record.
In the boys’ game, Lourdes Central Catholic took the lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
Pawnee City got close at the half, 25-20, but the Knights’ defense held the Indians scoreless in the third quarter and only allowed seven points in the fourth.
Hayden Miller was the top scorer for the Knights with 21 points, followed by Quintin Vasa with 12 and Brandon Fredrichs with 10 points.
The Knights are also atop the D1 District 1 standings with a 1-0 district record.
Both varsity teams travel to Archbishop Bergan Saturday.
Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. for the girls’ game and 6 p.m. for the boys’ matchup.
