The freshman class at Nebraska City High School earned nearly $500 Friday with their annual dodgeball tournament.

The tournament is sponsored to meet the freshman class’ responsibility to fund the holiday dance.

“It was a huge success,” said English teacher and member of the teacher’s dodgeball team Caleb Walker.

The tournament started with 13 teams and finished with the undefeated teachers against a six-man student team. Coming up through the loser’s bracket, the students had to beat “The Fighting Gogans” twice to win.
