Ralph L. Dean, 90, of Adams and formerly of Douglas, died Aug. 17, 2010 at his home. He was born on a farm near Douglas on Dec. 18, 1919, to Charles and Arwilda (Wilkins) Dean. In March of 1944, he married Pearl Oldenburg.

Ralph was a farmer and worked for the Northern Natural Gas Company for over 25 years. He retired in 1982.

Pearl preceded him in May of 1992. He married Helen (Gadeken) Teten Vollertsen Feb. 14, 1994, in Lincoln. They lived in the Douglas area before moving to Adams. Helen preceded him on June 28, 2005. On Nov. 12, 2006, he married Marilyn Niedermeyer in Nebraska City.
He enjoyed playing cards and being with his family and friends.

Ralph was also preceded by a brother, Charles Alton Dean.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Dean of Adams; daughter Dorene Gee and husband Ken of Indianapolis; sons Steve Dean and wife Carlene of Douglas and Rodger Dean and wife Connie of Columbus; step-children Anita Reimer and husband Duane of Syracuse, Diana Walters and husband Jim of Unadilla, and Ron Niedermeyer and wife Lavonne of Talmage; ten grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; sister Irene Thompson of Lincoln; other relatives and friends.

No viewing or visitation is planned.

Burial of Ralph’s ashes will be Saturday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Syracuse. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service.

Memorials are suggested to the choice of the family.
