Viola M. (Davis) Carl, age 94 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Nebr. City.
Viola was born on November 23, 1915 in Trenton, NE; the daughter of Melvin O. and Jennie E. (Cozad) Davis. She was united in marriage to Walter C. Carl on October 15, 1945 in Valley City, ND.
She worked at the Lincoln Journal Star as the Circulation Manager and at Miller & Payne as a bookkeeper. Viola was a member of the Non-denominational Church in Lincoln, NE; the Lady Auxiliary Legion Club and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Viola is survived by her sister Beulah (Davis) Hasty Beason of Nebr. City, NE; nephews: Larry M. Hasty of Valley Center, CA; Jerry C. Hasty and wife Trudy of Nixa, MO; Merton L. Thomas and wife Dina of Quartzsite, AZ and a niece Mary Thomas of Dacono, CO and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter on June 18, 1993; her parents, a sister Mildred M. (Davis) Thomas; brother Leonard C. Davis and a nephew Merlin E. Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at Gude Mortuary. Committal services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at the Forch Funeral Home in Benkelman, NE due to the weather; burial to immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton, NE.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the mortuary.
Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
