Winona Edith Burrill of Lincoln, formerly of Murdock, died Jan. 18, 2010 at Tabitha Health Care Services in Lincoln. She was born Jan. 19, 1920 near Winston, Mo., to Charley and Nettie (Smith) Downs.
She married Orlin Burrill Aug. 4, 1936 in Union. They were married nearly 70 Years. Most of their married life was spent farming in the Murdock and Weeping Water areas.
Winona will be remembered for her love of family and friends, as well as her talents for baking and dried floral arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orlin Burrill, son Gaylon Burrill, sister Twila Lindsey and brother Wilbur Downs.
She is survived by daughter Carole and husband Jim Gifford of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Kathleen Burrill of Tillamook, Ore.; grandchildren and spouses Michelle and Jim Erixson, Alliance, Sean Gifford, Lincoln, Scott Burrill, Portland, Ore., Kay Linn and Ron Haymond, Tillamook Ore., and Kyle and Trish Burrill, Boise, Idaho; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces Eleanor Irons of Weeping Water, Ellen Singleton, Seward, and Helen Huls, Beatrice.
A memorial service will be held At 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21 in the Chapel at Tabitha, 4720 Randolph St. No viewing or visitation will be held at Winona's request. Private family interment will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery.
