Funeral for SFC (retired) Herman E. Schneider, 69, of Lawton, Okla., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Assembly of God with Rev. Lloyd Grubbs officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Lawton, Okla.
Sgt Schneider died Wednesday. He was born April 27, 1940 in Nebraska City to Albert Herman and Olive Pearl (Smith) Schneider. He married Barbara S. Yerby on Oct. 15, 1961 in Nebraska City.
Sgt Schneider was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served four tours in Germany and had also been stationed in California and New Jersey. He retired from the Army in 1979 after twenty years of service.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three children and their spouses, Christy and Gerald Pina, Roosevelt, Okla., Michelle and Ron Hightower, Maryville, Tenn., and Rodney and Desirae Schneider, Lawton; a step-son and his wife, Gene and Barbara Hart, Camp Hill, Ala.; a brother, Bill Schneider and wife Mary, O’Neill, Neb.; a sister, Mary Jane Rowen and husband Eddie, Nebraska City; six grandchildren, Christopher Pina, Jason Pina, Melissa Hightower, Penelope Rose Schneider, Jackie Hart and Amon Hart; aunt and uncle, Becky and Frank Bender, Omaha; and friends, Emmett Hayslip, Mountain Park, Raymond and Terry Slack, the crew at Cracker Barrel Restaurant and the Presock family, all of Lawton.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
