Garald W. “Gary” Haase, 60, of Geneseo, Ill., died July 24, 2010 at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was born on March 3, 1950 in Nebraska City, the son of Denver and Eileen (Harris) Haase.
He was a graduate of Geneseo High School. He served in the Army as a door gunner during the Vietnam War.
He married Janet K. Webb on Oct. 8, 2002 in Cambridge, Ill.
He worked as an oiler for the Rock Island Arsenal for 20 years. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Geneseo American Legion Post #350. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and visiting with his Vietnam War friends.
He is survived by wife Janet; step-daughter Julia Egyud and step-son Stephen Egyud and wife Kylie, all of Adelaide, South Australia; four step-grandchildren, Jayme, Charlize, Krystalle and Zakary; sisters Mary Jo Orendorff, Fort Collins, Colo., and Sherry and husband Gary Schultz of Ankeny, Iowa; and nieces and nephews Andrea Orendorff and boyfriend Johnnie Walker, Brittany and husband Kevin Briegel, Cozette and husband Paul Wittman, Scott Schultz and wife Edna and David Schultz.
Memorial services were Aug. 3 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo with Rev. Dr. John Wohlrabe officiating. Inurnment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Military honors were by the Don Cherry Geneseo VFW Post No. 5083.
Memorials are suggested to the Geneseo Humane Society.
