Everett D. McAlexander, 89, of Liberty Lake, Wash., formerly of the Percival, Iowa area, died Feb. 1, 2010, at the Comfort House in McAllen, Texas. He was born in Dunlap, Iowa, on July 22, 1920, to Ernest and Cora (Briley) McAlexander.

In 1938, Everett graduated from the Percival High School and attended a trade school, where he was educated to work on airplanes.

On March 5, 1942, Everett and Maxine E. Witte married in Detroit, Mich. He farmed near Percival until he retired at the age of 64 in 1984.

He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #1049 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #968 in Nebraska City, Southwest Iowa and Southeast Nebraska Coon Club and Nebraska City Saddle Club.
In August of 2009, Everett and his wife moved to Liberty Lake and spent their winters in Texas. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and card player. Everett’s greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Maxine of Liberty Lake; son Steve McAlexander of Liberty Lake; daughters Linda and husband Tom Schaefer of Liberty Lake and Peggy and husband Doug Roberts of Fremont; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Violet Harris of Percival; other relatives and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5,  and 9 a.m. until service time, 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, at Peterson Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City.

Casket bearers will be Baird Nye, Brandon Roberts, Doug Roberts, Tom Schaefer, Randy Sidel and Brian Johnson. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Memorials are suggested to the future Hospice House in Nebraska City.

Peterson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
