Robert (Bob) Richard Fancher, Sr., passed away on Nov. 3, 2018, with his family by his side.
Bob was born on Aug. 18, 1928, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the late Thomas and Clara (Soukup) Fancher. Bob attended Thomas Jefferson High School before joining the U. S. Navy in 1946. He married Norma Jean Rus on Dec. 6, 1950, and worked for OPPD from 1951 until his retirement in 1990. Bob loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and was very proud of his garden. After retirement he loved his winters in Key Largo.
Bob is survived by his children; Barbara (Garry) Hillman, of Otoe, Connie (Dennis) Schutz, of Syracuse, Judy Carlton, of Syracuse, Robert Jr., (Zoryana) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Thomas (Clarice) of Omaha, Wayne (Patty) of Warrens, Wisc.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Norma Jean, sister; Lucille Cleveland and brother; Orville.
Recitation of the rosary,  was Tuesday at 6 p.m., followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2217 Ave. B, Council Bluffs. The funeral mass was Wednesday at 11 a.m., also at church, with a funeral luncheon to follow mass in the church hall. Interment was to follow lunch in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials to Hansen House Assisted Living or Disabled American Veterans.
