Alta went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday Oct. 14, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Alta was born on May 30, 1928, to Famous and Carrie Rogers of Unadilla.
She was the oldest of three children, brother, Merle and sister, Bette. Growing up in Nebraska.
Alta went to country school and Syracuse High School.
Following high school she attended Peru State College where she achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  
Alta began her teaching career in Syracuse, Nebraska in 1955 and retired from teaching in Omaha in 1977, but continued to substitute until 1987.
In 1972, she met the love of her life Edward V. Dakolios in Omaha.
They lived in several places throughout the years including St. Louis, Mo., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Cody, Wyo., and settled in Billings, Mont., in 1994. Alta enjoyed many things including working the 20 acre property in Cody, maintaining a beautiful garden and lastly one of her biggest passions was quilting and sewing.
Alta was also very active in her local church throughout the years, including the Frist Presbyterian Church in Billings, where she was awarded honorary life membership by the Presbyterian Women.
Alta lived a beautiful long life which included traveling and staying close with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Famous and Carrie Rogers; and siblings Merle and Bette.
She is survived by her husband Edward and step-children Sheila Lund and Ron of Missoula, Curt Dakolios and Tina of Tucson, and three grandchildren Alyssa Adkins, Evan and Maralee Dakolios and one great grandchild Luna Adkins. In addition, Alta has several surviving special nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Alta’s life were to be held at the First Presbyterian Church on 13th and Poly in Billings, Mont., on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel and memories or condolences may be shared at www.dahlfuneralchapel. com
