Beth Marie Stilwell (Pelan) was born May 21, 1982, in David City; the daughter of Randy and Lori (Fuller) Pelan.
After living in several communities in Nebraska, the Pelan family settled in Syracuse where Beth graduated from high school in 2001.
She enjoyed playing the clarinet in the concert and marching bands as well as a being a drum major.
She continued her education at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education May 2005.
After graduation she joined AmeriCorps as a volunteer which took her to Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and South Carolina helping to meet critical needs in certain communities.
While in AmeriCorps she met her husband Joe Stilwell. They married on Dec. 30, 2007 in a private ceremony in New Orleans, La.
The two of them lived in communities in Nebraska, Missouri and Indiana. While in Nebraska and Indiana Beth had a teaching career as well as working with children in other capacities.
Beth passed away on June 20, 2018, in Cross Plains, Ind.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Joe, of Cross Plains; parents Lori and Randy Pelan, sister Laura Pelan, brother Brad and wife Skye and daughter Raegan Jean-Marie Pelan; all of Lincoln. Joe’s parents Fred and Sandy Stilwell, along with family; Brian Marshall and wife Summer, children Vince, Cameron and Trinity; Jeff Marshall and daughter Laney; Tyler Stilwell and wife Jenny and children Gus and Danny, all from Indiana; also including many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., June 30, at the Berean Church in Lincoln. Family will greet friends after the services and during a light luncheon at the church. Burial will follow luncheon at the cemetery in Prague Nebraska.
