Opal I. Foster, age 87 of Riverton, passed away on Jan. 26, 2018, while visiting her family in Naples, Fla.
Opal was born on July 14, 1930, in Hamburg; the daughter of Bert and Leona (Lundy) Gardner.  She graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1948.
On March 1, 1953, Opal was united in marriage to August “Augie” Foster in Riverton. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2015.
Opal was a loving wife and mother.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children:  Ed Foster and wife Diane of Riverton; Karen Vaughn and husband Ray of Ave Maria, Fla., and Sharon Mathis and husband Steve of Grinnell, Iowa; seven grandchildren:  Jennifer Varellas and husband B.J. of Riverton; Jason Foster and wife Stephanie of Sidney; Jamie Jacobs and husband Brian of Sidney; Julie Woodruff and husband Steve of Naples; Jessica Loughlin and husband John of Everett, Wash.; Doug Mathis and wife Kelly of Cedar Rapids and Jake Mathis and wife Amber of Lynnville; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; sisters:  Thelma Johannes and husband Ray of Sioux City, and Carol Hiskett of Green Valley, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Augie Foster, Opal was preceded in death by her parents and siblings:  Everett Gardner, Clarence Gardner and Barb Gardner.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the Riverton Cemetery.
 The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Riverton Community Building in Riverton.
