Loren E. Mleynek, age 85, of Nebraska City, formerly of Omaha died Oct. 24, 2017, at his home.  Loren was born May 14, 1932, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Fred J. and Ella (Larsen) Mleynek.  
He married Donna Rae Ellis on Sept. 8, 1957 in Omaha.  Donna died Dec. 3, 2010.  
Loren served in the U.S. Army and worked as a chemist at Union Pacific Railroad for most of his career.  
He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed singing and spending time with his family.  
Loren was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ and was very active in the church choir.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Tangier Shrine Center.     
Survivors include his son, Clark Mleynek and wife Heather of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Christine Mleynek of Watertown, Mass., and Nannette Mleynek of Bellevue; three grandchildren, Roxann, Nicole and Rachel; sister, Nancy Hildebrandt and husband Norbert of Virginia Beach, Va.; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brothers, Jack and Boyd.
Funeral services were to be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
