Jill D. Catlin, age 80 of Nebraska City (formerly Kearney) passed away early Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Morton Place in Nebraska City.
Jill Dean (Myers) Molzahn Catlin was born on Dec. 2, 1936, in York; the daughter of John Dwight and Marjorie Marie (Rose) Myers.  She grew up in York, Portland, Ore., South Gate, Calif., Nebraska City, and Seward. She graduated from Seward High School in 1954.
She started school to be nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Lincoln and then quit to marry Charles Calvin Molzahn in June of 1955.  
They moved to Kearney where she worked at Bearbrand Hosiery.  When it closed they moved to Loveland and Berthoud, Colo., where she worked for Hewlett Packard for 10 years.  
Later they moved to Imperial and opened a café.  
When their marriage ended in 1978, Jill moved to Nebraska City.
She started working at a café, cooking and waiting tables and then found a job in the kitchen at the Ambassador.  
In her 40’s she finally returned to school and earned a degree in Food Service, Nursing Home Administration, and eventually earned a Master’s degree in Administration.
Jill worked as a nursing home administrator in Lincoln, Grand Island, Harvard and Adams.  
She also became an instructor and taught classes in administration at Hastings Community College while working full time.  
She retired in 1998.  One of her proudest accomplishments was helping create the children’s day-care center in the Gold Crest Retirement Home, where the young and the old enjoy and learn from each other.
In 1992, she married the love of her life, Alfred Catlin.  
They lived on El Charman Lake near Gibbon and later built a new home in Kearney.  
They enjoyed fishing, gardening, antiquing, car shows, traveling, cribbage, bridge, walking in the pool, and their families.  
When Al passed away in 2014,
Jill moved closer to family in Nebraska City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al Catlin and her brother, Thomas Parke Myers.
Jill is survived by her children:  Mark (Vickie) Molzahn of Craig, Colo.; Allysyn (John) Paap of Dunbar; Johnathan Molzahn of Fremont; Catherine Catlin of Lincoln; Elaine (Frosty) Chapman of Lincoln, and Brian (Christine) Catlin of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Myers; brother, Skip Kreiser; cousin, Mildred Gardner and many special friends at Adams and Kearney, and at Morton Place in Nebraska City.
Funeral Services were to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at O’Brien, Straatman, Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney, with Fr. Michael Ventre officiating.  Buiral was to follow the services at Kearney Cemetery.
The family was to greet friends at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City on Monday, Aug. 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Nebraska City Lourdes Central Catholic Guardian Angel Fund, the Countryside Christian Church in Kearney or the family’s choice.
