Rhetta Jean Dyke of Hamburg, entered into rest on July 29, 2017, at Jennie Edmunson Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 78.
Jean was born May 7, 1939 in Hamburg, the daughter of Paul and Anna Mae (Collins) Gregg.
Jean grew up in Hamburg and attended Hamburg High School.
She also attended Iowa Western Community College, studying human services.  
She worked for Brodkey Jewelers in Omaha and later for Interstate Nurseries and Hamburg Oil.
She cared for her mother for several years as well. Jean loved being a mom and grandma, and she was an avid reader.
She enjoyed cooking big meals for her family, playing cribbage and working in her flower bed.
Jean is survived by her son Patrick Doiel of Hamburg; daughter Leigh Calfee (Carl) of Nebraska City; grandson Kerry Williams (Carrie) of Denton, Texas; granddaughter Tessa Samarripas (Anthony) of Plano, Texas; granddaughter Ashley Frost of Council Bluffs; grandson Trent Calfee of Sidney; and grandson Luke Calfee of Nebraska City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Anna Mae; by an infant brother, Gerald; and by two sons, Greg and Matthew.
A visitation was to be held Friday, Aug. 4, from 7-8 p.m. at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Hamburg Cemetery, with Rev. Daniel Stuck officiating.
Memorials may be given to the family.
