Kathy M. True, 54, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1963, to Edwin “Yank” and Margaret (Nejezchleb) Mertens in Lincoln.
Kathy attended UNL and received a degree in art and also attended nursing school.
She worked at Linder and Sutton, before she started her daycare and True Photography.
Kathy married Gene A. True on July 21, 1997, in Gainesville, Fla.
She had a passion for traveling and was an amazing cook.
She also enjoyed gardening and canning.
Kathy would go out of her way to take care of everybody.
Kathy is survived by her husband: Gene True; daughter: Alexandra Joeckel; sons: Nathan and Nicholas True; mother: Margaret Mertens; siblings: Bill (Bonnie) Mertens, Laurie (Eric) Whipple, Pat (Cathy) Mertens, Mary Mertens; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father: Edwin and brother: Steve.
Funeral services were to be held on Tuesday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran church in Syracuse.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 24 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home, then from 5 until 9 p.m. at Lutheran Memorial.
Family was to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Flowers are suggested to honor Kathy’s life and love of flowers.
Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.
