Kate and Ned Lucas married on May 18, 1946.
She and Ned spent the majority of their married life living and working on the family farm near Unadilla where they raised their five children.
She worked as a homemaker, farm wife, and meat wrapper before she began her 20 year career of operating her own business of final cleaning commercial construction projects.
Kate enjoyed sewing, cooking, deer hunting and working in her flower beds. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.
Kate was a strong willed, hard working, one of a kind, go-getter.
She was loved, feared and respected by the construction workers on the jobsites she cleaned.
She was known as someone that would step in and help anyone in need. A caretaker.
During her years on the farm it was all too common for her to take in a family member in need and nurture them as her own.
She was a member of the Unadilla Christian Church, Tops, Red Hat Society, Palmyra Rough Riders and Christian Church Womens Circle.
Kate will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at the Unadilla Christian Church in Unadilla.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
