Vera M. Lavigne, age 98 of Murray, NE (formerly Nebr. City) passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Plattsmouth, NE.


Vera was born on May 26, 1918 in Julian, NE; the daughter of Joseph A. and Nancy M. (Tobin) Lederer.  She grew up on a farm east of Julian and graduated from the Julian High School with the class of 1934.  She was united in marriage to Francis “Bud” Lavigne on September 1, 1938 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church near Julian.


She helped on the family farm over the years and also worked as a Supervisor at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Nebraska City for some 12 years.  Vera was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Christian Mothers.


Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Marlene Zastera and husband Bill of Murray, NE; six grandchildren:  Scott Harding of South Bend, NE; Kim Dowdy and husband J.D. of De Soto, KS; Jeffrey Harding of Omaha, NE; Robert Harding of Murray, NE; Ed Zastera and wife Joanne of Syracuse, NE and Matthew Zastera and wife Morissa of Ozark, MO; 13 great-grandchildren; nephew Herbert Lavigne of Springfield, NE; nieces:  Barbara Wedgeworth of Longview, TX and Mary Lavigne of Omaha, NE; many cousins and friends.


Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bud Lavigne on Oct. 11, 1998; a sister Edna Little and a granddaughter Robin Harding.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating.  Burial will follow the services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery near Paul, NE.


The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (3/12) at Gude Mortuary followed by a Rosary Recitation at 7:00 p.m.


Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City.
