Kaylyn Grundman Esser Whiteman, 65, of Raytown, Mo., died March 4, 2017, surrounded by her family.  
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on March 18 at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City.
She was born Aug. 10, 1951.
The full-time housewife and mother loved to cook and bake, especially cookies.
Visits always ended with a plate of cookies to take home.
She loved decorating her home for holidays. Her residence was a haunted house at Halloween, her favorite holiday.
She was preceded in death by her Grandson Noah Esser; father, Allan Grundman; granparents, John and Helen Grundman and Herman and Mary Wurtele.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Whiteman of Raytown; sons and daughters-in-law Jason and Kim Esser of Nebraska City; Jeremy and Rachel Esser of Hospers, Iowa, and Jarrod and Jodi Esser of Waterloo; son, Drew Whiteman of Portland, Ore.; mother, Mary Grundman, of Nebraska City; sisters, Janet Grundman of Kansas City, Mo., and Laurie Trombino and Millie Ross, both of Nebraska City; and nine grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
