David J. Rowen, age 69, of Lorton passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.

David was born on Nov. 13, 1947 in Nebraska City, the son of Ed and Rose Mary (Atwell) Rowen, Sr.  He attended school in Nebraska City and graduated with the class of 1965; the first class to graduate from the new Nebraska City High School.


He was united in marriage to Jeri Hageman on April 19, 1969 in Lincoln.  David was the Vice President and Sales Manager for the RL Polk Co. and City Directory, Inc. for many years until his retirement.  His family lived in Overland Park, Kan.; Dallas, Texas; Lincoln and then settled near Lorton when David retired.

After his retirement, David enjoyed working on his acreage and traveling with Jeri.  He loved the outdoors and had just recently shot a deer on his 69th birthday.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Jeri Rowen of Lorton; son Tyge Rowen and wife Shannon of Lincoln and their children Jack and Christopher; daughter Jennifer Flere and husband Joel of Elkhorn and their son Logan; siblings:  Ed Rowen and wife Mary Jane of Nebraska City; Patsy Harpster of Nebraska City; Rose Marie Volkmer and husband Brick of Urbandale, Iowa; and Shalleen Davis and husband Craig of Lorton; sister-in-law Florence Kehr of Beaver, Utah.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister Pamela; brother Billy and brother-in-law Gary Harpster.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at St. John’s U.C.C. (McWilliams) in rural Talmage.  Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Camp Creek Cemetery south of Nebraska City.

The family will greet friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. to service  time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials go to Camp Creek Cemetery.
