Patsy Ruth Burns, 86, of Council Bluffs, died Jan. 24, 2012 at Bellevue Medical Center. She was born Aug. 15, 1925 in Nebraska City to Carl and Pearl (Cooney) Sheridan, who preceded her in death.
Patsy worked for 26 years as the head of the Child Support Enforcement Department for the Douglas County Clerk of Court in Omaha.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded by husband William Charles (Bill) Burns, Sr.; sons Thomas Joseph Burns and William Charles Burns, Jr.; brother Emmett Sheridan, who died in a World War II concentration camp; brother Carl Sheridan and step father Charles Slack.
Patsy is survived by daughter Jacqueline Schweer and husband John; six grandchildren, Lori (Nielsen) Brewer, Shannon (Burns) Fifer, Michelle Burns, Wendy (Burns) Schweiss, Patrick Burns and Jill (Nielsen) Misciskia; 11 great grandchildren, Morgon Schlotzhauer, Joslyn Schweiss, William Brewer, Jarod Misciskia, Megan Fifer, Caleb Brewer, Billy Fifer, Elijah Brewer, Lillian Misciskia, Ryland Schweiss, and Tobey Misciskia; daughter-in-law Gail Burns; and lifetime best friend Lois Gruber of Nebraska City.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Maher-Livingston Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Funeral Services will be Thursday at Maher-Livingston at 7:30 p.m. with private interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors.
