Frank Irvin Crowner, 67, of Nebraska City died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born on Feb. 11, 1943 in Omaha, the son of Shubert C. and Ottilia G. (Sims) Crowner.  He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1961.

He married Janis G. Simonds on June 30, 1961 in Nebraska City.  He joined the Air Force in September of 1961, and he and his wife moved to El Paso, Texas.  After his discharge in August of 1965, he went to work as a firefighter in El Paso.  After five years, he and his family moved to Omaha where he also worked as a firefighter for ten more years.  He retired in 1981 due to a heart condition.

He and his wife lived in various places and traveled for some time until they settled in New Mexico for two years then moved back to Nebraska City.  In his spare time Frank enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Janis Crowner of Nebraska City; son Mark Crowner of Nebraska City; daughter Marie Biays of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren:  Jeff Biays and Jessica Biays of Lakewood, Chad Crowner and wife Shannon, Brad Crowner and Chelsa Brown and husband Josh, all of Council Bluffs, and Jared Crowner of Omaha; great-grandchildren Alexander and Kylie, both of Council Bluffs; siblings Donald Crowner of Nebraska City, Mike Strange of Bloomsdale, Mo., John Strange of Murray, Linda Strange of New Jersey, Patty Weber of Bloomsdale, Wanda Strange Beline of Guam and Joe Crowner of Illinois; and other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.   Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Detail.

Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers.
