Janet M. Brown, 75, of Nebraska City, died on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born on Feb. 17, 1934 in Omaha, the daughter of Vincent Stehno, Sr. and Mamie Palacek Stehno. She attended school in Omaha.
She married Florian F. Brown on May 24, 1955 at Atwood, Kan.
Florian and Janet moved to Nebraska City in 1985 from Utica, Neb. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed attending and watching her children participate in their many sporting events. She also enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, especially football.
She is survived by her husband, Florian F. Brown of Nebraska City; children Myron Brown of Kearney, Sharon Brown of Fairbury, Laure Beckman and husband Charlie of Mound City, Kan., Greg Brown and wife Toni of Fremont, and Gary Brown and wife Terese of Wahoo; daughter-in-law Anne McCracken of Kearney; nine grandchildren: Katie Brown, Josh Beckman, Megan Brown, Christopher Brown, Chelsea Beckman, Casey Brown, Nick Brown, Jeremy Brown and Molly Brown; siblings Richard Stehno and wife Betty of Lapeer, Mich., Betty Felt of Omaha, and Vincent Stehno, Jr. and wife Marie of Omaha; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by son Jeff Brown in October of 1995, brother Robert Stehno and a triplet sister, JoAnn Tate.
Funeral services for Janet Brown will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Michael McCabe celebrating the Mass; burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited Friday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City followed by the family greeting friends.
