A thunderstorm moving across Otoe County Aug. 6 downed power poles over a two mile area north of Unadilla.

The poles were down on Road 16 from roads B and E, with roads closed where wires were crossing.

Bill Timblin, who farms east of 16 Road, said wind has damaged the poles in previous years as well.

“The poles are too tall for the wind,” he said.

There was also damage to trees and crops, but Timblin said he had only heard of minor damage to any buildings or homes.
