The Nebraska City school board voted to hire the Minnesota-based Taher company to run the school’s food service program. The board approved the hire at a special meeting Wednesday night. They also heard presentations from Creative Dining out of Michigan and Lunchtime Solutions out of South Dakota.
The contract with Taher will be for one year, with the district paying a per-meal cost and receiving a $30,000 profit guarantee.
The board also awarded a bid for mechanical work and alternates at the high school to HEP, Inc out of Lincoln. Their base bid was $1,948,000 and the total cost for the mechanical alternates was $60,400.
More details on the school lunch program and construction work will appear in the News-Press print edition.
