The Nebraska City administrative search committee has trimmed its list of city administrator candidates to three.
Finalists are Douglas E. Gerber of Beloit, Kan., Patrick Haverty of Nebraska City and Joseph J. Johnson of David City.
Gerber, city administrator in Beloit, was previously an assistant city manager of Salina, Kan., and administrative services director in Beloit.
His list of accomplishments at Beloit include new building and animal codes, an infrastructure sales tax, business park and planning for water and electrical services. He negotiated to bring a new cable television company to Beloit, created a Youth City Council and oversaw street, airport and utility projects.
Haverty, executive director of the River Country Economic Development Corporation, has experience as a long-time resident, city council member and former local businessman.
His list of accomplishments includes collaborations to create Nebraska City Main Street program, Leadership Nebraska City, LB840 program plan and over $1 million in successful grant applications for affordable housing, regional economic development and downtown redevelopment.
Johnson, city administrator at David City and former city assistant in LaVista, helped found the Butler County Development Board and is a former vice president of the David City Area Chamber of Commerce. As city administrator, his responsibilities include day-to-day operations, annual budgeting and grant applications.
