The Nebraska Department of Roads State Highway Commission met at Lied Lodge and Conference Center Friday morning. Several locals, including Mayor Jack Hobbie, were on hand to express their support for the widening of Highway 75 from Plattsmouth to Nebraska City.
Richard Ruby, District 1 Engineer, gave an overview of projects in the works, including the Highway 75/Highway 2 Interchange project. The project’s current estimated cost is $19,400,000.
District 1 Host Commissioner Rodney P. Vandeberg said he would like to see a “grassroots” effort by citizens to address road issues. He said a committee comprised of individuals from around the state should be formed.
Others addressing the commission included Senator Dave Pankonin, Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce President Mark Easter and City Administrator Pat Haverty.
