Two new fire trucks are expected for the Palmyra and Douglas rural fire district.

A used pumper is being ordered for Douglas and a new tanker for Palmyra at an estimated cost of $325,000.

County Commissioner Steven Lade said the rural fire district was unable to obtain a grant for the trucks.

They will issue rural fire district bonds to purchase the trucks and expect to repay the loan with annual contributions from the county board.

Lade said the fire district normally receives about $15,000 from the county for its budget.
