A 23-year-old Otoe man entered a guilty plea Monday for causing a knife wound to a neighbor following an argument this summer.

Otoe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joshua Sack in June for his involvement in a physical confrontation with Shawn McElhenie.

Otoe County Attorney David Partsch told District Judge Randall Rehmeier that the confrontation started after Sack walked past McElhenie’s house, pulled his hand from a pocket and made a gesture of firing a gun.

Partsch said he later returned to the property and, during a confrontation, used a knife to cut the back of McElhenie’s head.
McElhenie was treated at Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital for the laceration.

Upon a later search of Sack’s home, deputies found a knife with dried blood and hair on it.
Sack was found guilty of a felony that carries a possible sentence of one to 50 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 22.
