Sunderman honored at 2010 Pioneer bandfest

Nebraska City Public Schools presented their annual band festival at the high school on May 11.

The concert featured music selections from the senior high band, as well as fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands.

The 2010 event marked the last for Band Director Joel Sunderman.

He and his wife Nancy are retiring from the school district and plan to live in Lincoln. Sunderman led marching bands in 28 AppleJack parades and Mrs. Sunderman organized 17 Christmas concerts.

First chair musicians were Hanna Hutchens, flute; Lynne Davis, clarinet; Gladisela Adame, bass clarinet; Ashley Stelling, alto saxophone; Anthony Joe, tenor saxophone; Stephanie Cruz, baritone saxophone; Jordan Schomerus, trumpet; Mayme Jordan, French horn; Molly Woodman, trombone; Alan Davis, baritone; Tyler Martin, tuba; and Jacob Biaggi, percussion.
