Classes are set to begin this week at the new Northside Elementary. The 7,200 square foot building will house grades K through 2 and is roughly twice the size of the old building.
Principal Haeven Pedersen said he’s been looking forward to the move.
“It feels wonderful to finally be in the building,” he said.
“It will be exciting tonight and tomorrow when the parents and students see what we have for them.”
Superintendent Jeff Edwards called the building “a great addition to the district.”
“It will be exciting to finally have the kids in the building. The teachers have put in a lot of work,” he said.
Each teacher will have their own classroom, with two additional rooms to spare. The library will have two computer labs and be its own room instead of an open space, and an enormous commons area will greet all who enter.
“It’s extraordinary what we’ve come from compared to where we are going,” Pedersen said.
