Clubhouse Learning Center, a new preschool, has opened at 1720 Second Corso. The preschool is run by Holly Booe of Nebraska City and is located in the basement below Joni Flewelling’s daycare.
Booe said she is excited about the opportunity to work with small children while still having time to spend with her two -year-old son.
“Even as a little kid, I always wanted to teach the younger grades. When the opportunity came up to open my own preschool, it was a given that this was something I had to do,” she said.
A licensed elementary and special education teacher, Booe’s most recent teaching experience was at Hayward, where she was a third grade resource teacher for a year. Prior to that she taught middle school for seven years in Omaha.
At the Clubhouse, she uses the Mother Goose Time curriculum, incorporating subject areas including math, writing, social skills and Spanish.
Each month has a new theme. Last month it was rainforest, with students “flying” to South America. This month’s theme is Transportation Station.
“I wanted a place for fun activities, but where the kids are still learning,” Booe said.
A pre-Kindergarten roundup at Clubhouse Learning Center is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3. for the Jan. to June term. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.
Booe is also offering after-school tutoring for Kindergarten through fifth graders.
