Skylar Osovski, a 2007 graduate of Lourdes Central Catholic, is working over her Christmas break as a sports intern at the Nebraska City News-Press.

Osovski, the daughter of Ron and JoAnn Osovski, is a mass communications and journalism major at Wayne State College.

She is currently editor in chief of the Wayne Stater, a weekly campus newspaper, and sports director of the campus radio station, 91.9 the Cat.

Osovski credits her high school experience for sparking her interest in athletics. The size of Nebraska City allowed her to participate in a wide variety of sports.

“If I wasn’t going to play athletics in my post-secondary education, I had the desire to write about it,” she said.

News-Press Sports Editor Kirt Manion said he remembers well Osovski’s contributions to the girls’ basketball team.

“When teams came into Lourdes’ gym and you asked the opposing coach what their focus was, Skylar’s name came up. You could tell they didn’t want her creating a lot of offense,” he said.
