May Friendship Day (MFD) 2018 will be hosted by the Bethel UCC Women's Fellowship at the Fellowship Hall on Friday, May 4 at 11:30 a.m. This year's theme is "Reaching For Wholeness – In Gratitude for God’s Presence," from Colossians 1:17—“And God is before all things, and in and through God the universe is a harmonious whole.” The theme focuses on our gratitude for God’s presence in all things; especially our respond to human needs. The overall focus in this program is childhood hunger, which is one of the most important needs of the community at the present time.
MFD is traditionally held the first Friday in May, and dates back to May, 1945. A few years after the founding of Church Women United, the celebration was formalized as May Fellowship Day. In 1999, the movement of Church Women United changed the name of the celebration to May Friendship Day, as we continue to celebrate unity in our journey toward wholeness in all communities.
Hot lunch will be provided, and the program will be presented by Keitha Thomson. Please bring at least one item to help the Food Pantry such as a box of cereal, peanut butter, jelly, fruit cups, canned tuna or chicken, or a box of macaroni and cheese. Tickets are available for $5 through your Church Women United representative or by contacting Mary Redelfs at 402-873-6218. Please RSVP by April 24.
