The Nebraska City - Southeast Interchange is scheduled to open to traffic onto the new N-2 alignments and ramps on Wednesday, December 13, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Constructors Inc., of Lincoln, Nebraska, has the $24.4 million contract for the 1.25-mile project located south of Nebraska City on US-75/N-2.
Work on portions of the project will be ongoing once the traffic is switched onto the new alignments. Traffic will be restricted to one lane each way in the eastbound and westbound lanes for approximately one mile from 3rd Street to 63rd Street on N-2, while minor work continues after the opening. The intersections at 3rd Street and 63rd Street are now restricted to right turns only.
Traffic will be narrowed on US-75 northbound and southbound at the overpass locations to accommodate traffic signal work. The speed limit will be reduced in these sections to accommodate construction operations, and motorists are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled when workers are present.
The Department’s project manager for this project is Mike Habegger of Tecumseh. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through construction zones.
