Hayward Elementary hosted the school’s fourth annual Relay Recess during the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 27.
During the last week in September, students took part in a coin drive to raise money for Relay for Life, Otoe County.
Hayward Principal Scot Davis agreed to dye his hair purple if students were able to collect $1,000 in coins.
According to Audrey Graves of Relay for Life Otoe County, students raised $1,150.34 this year, and Davis colored his hair as a reward for students achieving their goal.
Graves said Hayward students have raised a total of $4,329.34 for the Relay for Life from the four Relay Recess events.
