Six youths who are riding bicycles from Georgia to Omaha to promote positive parenting are expected to pass Nebraska City on Friday, July 29.
The youths from the Paul Anderson Youth Home in Vidalia, Ga., are traveling 1,500 miles in 19 days from Vidalia to Boys Town near Omaha to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Anderson's ride in 1961.
Anderson, knows as the world's strongest man, set a Guiness world record and won Olympic gold for weightlifting in 1956. His original bike trip to Boys Town raised awareness of youth at risk in Vidalia.
The youth cyclists encourage adults to make one positive change to their parenting today and join the Family Strong movement by signing a pledge to make “parent” a verb.
