An Auburn woman blamed a loose shoe for an accident Jan. 11 where she backed her car into two other vehicles, jumped a curb and rolled before hitting a house.

Neva C. Thies, 78, told police she was backing her 1997 Chevrolet Blazer when a loose shoe fell from her foot.

She said while attempting to get the shoe back on she stepped on the wrong pedal.

The Blazer backed into a pickup truck that parked across the street and continued on 13th Street where it struck a Oldsmobile that had just turned from K Street.

The Blazer continued backing across K Street, jumped the curb and bounced into a yard.
The Blazer rolled onto its top before hitting the home of Donald Laballe at 1100 13th Street.

Police estimate damage to the Blazer at $7,000, the pickup at $5,000, the Oldsmobile at $2,000 and the yard at $250. Auburn Rescue transported Thies with minor injuries.
