A Nebraska City flash mob of gathered at Walmart Saturday  for a seemingly spontaneous singing of Christmas carols.

The group gathered around 5:15 p.m. near the front of the Nebraska City store until Stephanie Stanek started to sign at 5:30 p.m.

The singing included a verse from Deck the Halls and a verse from Hark the Herald Angles Sing.

Diane Collins of Nebraska City began planning the “top secret” event last week and received confirmations from 50 people.

Participating were members of the Christian band ReleasT, a Nebraska-City based prison ministry. Singers given roles include Stanek, Merry Hanson, Steve Collins, Ken Smith and Vic Johns.

The musical surprise brought applause from Walmart shoppers.
